We marked the European mobility week of 2023 with a Cycling Youth Exchange within the Youth and Commute project. Young people participating could learn how to chose a bike for their height and purpose, maintain it and use it safely on the road while aware of the traffic rules.

5 Countries and participants from different backgrounds took part in the Youth Exchange we organized in Trofaiach, Austria. Some were semi-professional, others learning how to ride a bike only now. It was a great experience both for the organizers (Verein InterAktion and the partners), and for the participants, who came to Trofaiach Austria from Sweden, Turkey, Macedonia and Bulgaria, to experience the nature, bike lanes, rules, and traffic etiquette. They all received a bike and could learn to inspect it, fix minor things, and ride in the beautiful surroundings of Trofaiach, all the way to Leoben. We met the mayor, Mr Abl, and discussed the mobility strategy and the embeded cycling culture in it. The municipality focuses on the young people and kids from early age, to allow them to get to school by bike, and develop healthy habits.
